The total value of home banking operations hit a record one billion leks ($10 million), up 14.7% from the same period a year earlier, according to Bank of Albania data.

Home banking – which allows users to transfer money, pay taxes, utility bills, traffic fines and credit card dues without visiting branches – has expanded rapidly as lenders digitalize services and more citizens gain online access.

Bank customers can access these banking services wherever they are as long as they have internet access.

The increase in transactions via bank apps or websites is an indicator of the digitalization of banking services, while further increasing the financial inclusion of citizens, as well as the transparency of banking operations.
