TIRANA, July 22 /ATA/ Minister of Interior, during the meeting with the high-level representatives of the Durrës Regional Police Directorate, focused on ethical issues related to communication with the citizens.

Balla requested that Traffic Police employees have to abide by ethical standards and punishment should not be a mean to an end in their job.

“The Traffic Police are not hunters of transgressors. If a vehicle driver is not wearing a seat belt or uses a mobile phone while driving, before asking for the documents, it is mandatory to greet the citizen, ask him what is causing him to violate traffic rules, putting at risk himself and others.

So what is important for us is road safety, it is education or awareness. Ticket is not an end in itself. No two cases are the same. “I’m not interested in the “successes” of the tickets, all that matters is the awareness of the citizens about the importance of adhering to the rules, not because there is a traffic police officer past the curve, but because we protect human lives in this way,” said Balla.
Durrës is the city with the highest flow of local and foreign vacationers, and for this the State Police in coordination with other state structures have key responsibility for guaranteeing security on the coastline.

“Fight against the cultivation of narcotics remains another top priority,” Minister Balla said at the meeting with representatives of Durrës police directorate.
