TIRANA, July 25 /ATA/ – At centre of Gjirokaster’s characteristic bazaar, Manjola has established and runs a shop offering local traditional products and creating a market for a network of 60 local households that which passionately carry on with the tradition of preserving the food supplies.

The “I want It” network of shops is another success story, financially supported by the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency (ARDA) that is now assisting the hardworking local women and promoting their economic empowerment.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milva Ekonomi, on a tour to the southern city of Gjirokaster, visited the “I Want It” shop of natural and organic products, an Albanian brand at the heart of the Old Bazaar.

Ekonomi said that the shop promotes and sells traditional Albanian products provided by local farmers and artisans.

“The wide range of products here include brandy, wine and traditional beverages, and many gastronomic treasures like gliko, a compote made from whole fruit, olive oil, olive, honey and dairy products, corns, dried fruits and vegetables, as well as typical delicacies for the local and international visitors,” Ekonomi said.

On her part, Manjola said she has been working for four years to create the brand and each year she is increasing number of her collaborators, who provide their traditional products from all regions.

“I Love It” network of shops has already become a potential and an added value in the efforts to promote agricultural and handicraft products, which are highly sought after especially by foreign visitors.
