TIRANA, July 1 /ATA/ Tourists from all over the world have chosen to visit Tirana and Albania.

Investments in infrastructure, architecture, as well as historical sites have transformed the capital into one of the most popular year-round tourist destinations for international visitors. However, it is not only Tirana that has seen this transformation—Albania as a whole has become an attractive year-round tourism destination, offering a diverse range of attractions, including culture, art, history, and cuisine.

During a recent visit to the capital, the Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) spotted tourists from across Europe and beyond exploring Tirana. Visitors were seen capturing the city’s striking architecture and museums on camera, while enjoying a variety of daytime and evening events—and indulging in traditional Albanian cuisine.

A group of five tourists, exiting the Et’hem Bey Mosque, told ATA that they had come from Belgium.

A group of friends visiting Albania shared with ATA that they have been in Tirana for two days, taking in some of the city’s most stunning sights. Prior to their stay in the capital, they spent a week in Saranda, enjoying its crystal-clear beaches and flavorful cuisine. They praised the warm hospitality, the local food, and especially the city’s distinctive architecture.

Just a few meters away, at another Tirana landmark—the Clock Tower—two Italian visitors, Sofia and Ilaria, told ATA they are very happy to be in Tirana after spending several days vacationing in Vlora.

“We spent a few days in Vlora and truly enjoyed the experience. We didn’t come with a tour group or guide, but on our own initiative. We also really like Tirana as a city. We just visited the Clock Tower, something we had never seen before. We believe we will return here on vacation again next year,” they said.

Meanwhile, another large group of over 20 tourists from Turkey gathered at Skanderbeg Square, where they chose to take photos near the National Hero’s statue. They also mentioned having previously visited the Pyramid and Bunk’Art.
Another group of tourists, led by a guide from a Tirana-based travel agency, expressed their satisfaction with their vacations at some of Albania’s most beautiful destinations.
“This is a large group of tourists from Spain, Uruguay, and Bogotá. About 80% of them are Spanish, while the remainder come from Uruguay and Colombia. Their main destinations typically include the Riviera and southern Albania, such as Saranda and Vlora, but they also enjoy experiences in the bays like Grama and Gjipe. Tourists also show a strong preference for iconic cities like Berat and Gjirokastër. Generally, they travel with a guide or arrange their visits through local travel agencies,” said the agency’s tour guide.

Tirana stands out as one of the most vibrant cities in Southeastern Europe, having transformed into a major tourist attraction for visitors from the region, across Europe, and beyond.

Within just 15 square kilometers, Tirana offers nearly every form of tourism imaginable—from cultural and historical tourism to architectural and culinary experiences, as well as mountain and adventure tourism.

Some of the key attractions that foreign tourists can visit in Tirana and its surroundings include the Tirana Mosaic, the Clock Tower, Et’hem Bey Mosque, Kapllan Pasha’s Tomb, Tirana Fortress, the city center’s “Monumental Ensemble,” Tabakëve Bridge, Petrela Castle, the National History Museum, Bunk’Art 1 and 2, the National Museum “House of Leaves,” and more. Tourist groups are most commonly found at Skanderbeg Square, Tirana Fortress, and the New Bazaar.
