TIRANA, Oct 31 /ATA/ Throughout this year, around 17 thousand local and foreign tourists have visited the museums in the city of Gjirokastra.

The figure is published by the municipality of Gjirokastra, while this number is higher compared to last year.

The museums operating in the UNESCO city are the driving force behind the development of sustainable tourism, while the city is packed with the autumn tourists in this period.

Since one month, the Ethnographic Museum and the “Kadare” Museum have been added to the tour guide of the Castle Museums and the Cold War Museum.

The investments implemented in the last two museums for their revitalization have enabled high standards for local and foreign visitors.

“We consider museums to be important centers for knowledge and information about the values of history and tradition as well as the education of new generations. Meanwhile, at the current stage of tourism development, they have even more value as important tourist guide stations,” the mayor, Flamur Golemi says.

Other than touristic values, the museums operating in the stone city are also centers of care and promotion for the values of historical and cultural heritage.

The Museum of Weapons, Ethnography, etc. have already become well-known brands for museums not only at the national level, but also internationally.
