TIRANA, April 23 /ATA/ – Tourists from around the world are increasingly choosing Tirana as a year-round destination, with visitor numbers rising across the Albanian capital, Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Thursday.

In a post on social media, the government head described the city as “buzzing with tourists,” sharing images of crowded streets and landmarks.

Tourists are regularly seen across key landmarks in the city, including Skanderbeg Square, the main “Martyrs of the Nation” Boulevard, the Pyramid of Tirana, the Bunk’Art museums, the Et’hem Bey Mosque, as well as museums and cultural sites that showcase Albanian history, tradition and identity.

Officials say Tirana has become one of the most dynamic urban destinations in the Mediterranean, attracting visitors from Europe, the region and beyond, and increasingly positioning itself as a year-round tourism hub rather than a seasonal stop.

Within a compact area of around 15 square kilometres, the capital offers a wide range of tourism experiences, from cultural and historical sites to architecture, gastronomy, and access to nearby nature and adventure tourism.

Among the most visited attractions are Skanderbeg Square, the National History Museum, the Clock Tower, the Et’hem Bey Mosque, the Pyramid, the House of Leaves museum, the Tabakëve Bridge, the Tirana Castle area, and the New Bazaar. On the outskirts, sites such as Petrela Castle also draw visitors seeking short excursions outside the city centre.

Tourist groups are most frequently observed in central locations such as Skanderbeg Square, the castle area, and the New Bazaar, which has become a focal point for food, crafts and local experiences.
