The mayor of Malësi e Madhe, Tonin Marinaj, told ATA that over 45 thousand local visitors and foreign tourists visited Tamara during 2021.

Marinaj stressed that, “until yesterday, what Tamara offered was just a natural miracle. But today, investments as part of the Urban Renaissance Program, have turned it into a tourist destination developed in the spirit of traditional architecture.”

According to him, this area has potentials for the development of winter sports, camping sites, as well as agritourism services.

“Investments and businesses that are developing in the northern region of the country, are transforming the lifelines of communities, are boosting tourism, agro-processing and organic farms, making Tamara an all year destination,” said Marinaj, adding that, even in this year the investment in infrastructure remains a priority.

Tamara, 235 m above the sea level, is a mountain village located in an abyss about 1000 meters below the mountain tops. It lies along the Cem River which offers a stunning view.

Tamara is located about 46 km from Koplik and is part of the Kelmend Administrative Unit.
