In a video message, Kumbaro said the strategy is the result of nearly two years of research, studies, and public consultation.

“The document outlines specific targets to increase income from tourism by 2030, including expanding accommodation capacities, improving service standards, dividing the country into six tourism regions, and assigning new responsibilities to tourism-related state agencies,” she said.

The strategy is built on six main pillars, namely investment promotion, fiscal and regulatory policies, destination management, tourism product development, destination marketing, and capacity building, all grounded in social, environmental, and economic sustainability.

Under the National Tourism Strategy, Albania will be divided into six tourism regions, Adriatic Coast, northern inland, Tirana region, central region, Ionian coast, and southern inland region.

Kumbaro also thanked the ministry staff and GIZ, the German development agency, for their contribution to shaping a strategy focused on sustainable tourism development.
