TIRANA, Nov 3 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Friday that from January to October Albania was visited by about 9 million tourists.

At the meeting of the extended Assembly of the Socialist Party in Fier, Rama touched on the increase in the number of tourists and its impact on domestic economy.

“Today I received the October data on tourism. Compared to October last year, the number of tourists in Albania has increased by over 80%. Last October, 365,000 tourists visited Albania, while in October 2023, 691,000 tourists visited the country,” said Rama.
Meanwhile, the prime minister informed that from January to October, Albania has hit the number of almost 9 million tourists.

“To be precise, there are 8.92 million tourists, however this number was inconceivable a few years ago. Whenever we talk about the increase in the number of tourists, there are some who say that this has nothing to do with their daily life. Today, tourism is turning into an industry and is the biggest export, because those tourists generate economy. The visitors will increase exponentially the consumption, the demand for services and products, and definitely increase the income in the economy in a very significant way,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister expressed his conviction that the exponential growth of tourism will continue on a year to year basis.

“This is the most tangible panorama of what we have done for Albania and what has happened to Albania thanks to our joint work. Albania today is a different country in the eyes of those who until yesterday could not imagine seeing it as one of the most attractive tourist destinations. This is not simply related to the beauties Albania has been endowed with, but also to our work to convert them into sources of income for our families,” Rama added.
