TIRANA, April 9 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ The Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, Zurab Pololikashvili, considered Albania a success story in tourism, while inviting foreign investors to invest in our country.

On Tuesday, Pololikashvili addressed the Conference on Investments and Economic Development of Europe and Albania, co-hosted with the World Tourism Organization, where the prestigious publication “Tourism Doing Business: Investing in Albania” was launched.

“We want to encourage everyone to invest in Albania. I am in love with this place. I notice that these people are serious, work hard, are good partners and deserve more investments and more economic activity in this country”, he said.

The Secretary General of the WTO highlighted change and development, which Albania is seeing every year.
“Albania has changed a lot, even compared to a year ago when I visited it for the first time. The government is creating opportunities for investors. We see new constructions, which gives you a feeling of a city rejuvenating.
This creates a good feeling for us and good vibes for investors.”
According to Pololikashvili, tourism is the fastest and best way to create jobs.

“We want to motivate investors to come and enjoy Albania and then invest, because our task is to create new jobs and tourism is the best way to create jobs in the fastest way,” he said.
As to the importance of investments in infrastructure, he emphasized the importance of education in tourism.

“We can build tunnels, roads, accommodation facilities, we can host 10 million tourists, but again every $10 or $20 invested in education will return the investment. Therefore, we will set up an education center in Albania to serve the region, a regional center. In partnership with business schools, we have created access to their programs and in Tirana we will offer students the opportunity to learn and train. Tourism is developing and unfortunately the demand is very high, but the lack is equally great. That’s why we recommend tourism education,” the Secretary General of the WTO said. /m.m/
