TIRANA, May 5/ATA/ In Tirana, there was presented today the project idea for transformation of the Toptani Saray into the Ethnographic Museum.

The project, which aims to revive the building into an added value of Tirana, will preserve the cultural and traditional values of the city.

Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, together with Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, participated in the presentation of the Saray project, reminding that just a while ago was saved from arson attack.

He expressed his delight that such a building is being transformed to represent the identity of Tirana.

He revealed that the project for the Ethnographic Museum of Tirana will be developed by the same studio that created the Marubi Museum and the Gjirokastra Museum.

Architect Jesus Hernandez revealed some of the details of the project.

“The concept is inspired by the tradition of Tirana. This is very inspiring for us, so we have divided it into three parts. The first is the building, which is empty today, but has cultural heritage significance. Secondly, the collections’ part, as there is many elements in this city that are very important to show to people. Also, it is very important to involve the people, the audience, and the public. The other concept that we have thought about is that of culture and with culture, the culture of clothing, but also music, cuisine. These are aspects related to the culture of Tirana. The last element is the part of weaving of the past, present and future. Usually, the museums work with the past and the present, but we think the museum should also look to the future,” explained Hernandez.

Saray is one of the most important and special facilities in Tirana. The addition and protection of this touristic and cultural asset is an undisputed mission for the further development of Tirana./k.s/p.s./
