TIRANA, December 11 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that Albania has become a leading country in the region for the modernization and integrity of the public procurement system, ranking first in the Western Balkans according to the SIGMA monitoring report.

Attending the event “Celebrating 30 years of public procurement in Albania-Reflecting on achievements, preparing for the future”, Rama emphasized the transformative change, a beacon of hope in a politically polluted environment.

He underlined that the episodes of problematic cases do not indicate a lack of progress, but on the contrary, the will of the state to fight corruption.

The head of government emphasized that the data of recent years clearly prove this improvement.

“Our progress in the fight against corruption is indisputable. This is also clearly shown by the fact that the data overviews of all new procedures of recent years have a very visible difference with those of a few years ago,” he stated.

According to Rama, this change is not a coincidence, but the result of the work of the Public Procurement Agency and its management.

He added that Albania is now considered the country with the best performance of the public procurement system in the region.

“This fact, clearly highlighted in the SIGMA report, which ranked Albania first in the Western Balkans and by a margin from others, would have been unthinkable not many years ago,” said Rama. /gj.m/a.f/p.s./
