Speaking at a press conference today, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Enea Karakaçi assured the public that there are currently no plans to introduce tolls on this road.

“State budget funding ensures the project remains entirely free of charge”, said the minister.

He also said that infrastructure improvements are underway along the Tirana-Durres highway to ease congestion, specifically targeting the Rinas bottleneck.

According to him, the project includes demolishing the existing Rinas overpass, constructing a new four-lane replacement and adding extra lanes to a 2-kilometer segment of the route. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, March 13/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that there will be no tolls charged on Arbri road and the Murriz tunnel as long as he is prime minister.

During a live conversation with citizens in the social media, Rama stated that, “The Murriz tunnel was built with PPP (public-private partnership), the entire Arbri road, which means that it has been much cheaper for the Albanian state and taxpayers than roads that were built, especially in the past, with tenders that were turned into a history of abuse by additional funds for unforeseen works”.

“Here, we made a contract according to which the private entrepreneur takes over to cover everything unforeseen. Now, how much the Arbri road would have cost us if it was built according to the previous practice”, Rama said.

Meanwhile, the head of government emphasized that, “The additional costs, based on the contract, were taken over by the entrepreneur”.

“What the state will do is to pay off its obligation on the foreseen limit fund”, emphasized Rama. /j.p/p.s./
