Inaugurated in early January 2025, the centre is already becoming operational with several companies operating in the cinematography and audiovisual production industry in Albania, including Catalyst Story Institute, whose executives, two U.S. citizens, were the Prime Minister’s Edi Rama’s guests at his weekly “Flasim” (Let’s Talk) podcast on Saturday.

Recalling his meeting with Catalyst’s Executive Director Philip Gilpin Jr. and producer Pamela Cederquist, the government head underlined that a project on the restoration of the former Albanian films studio was designed to transform into a residence for young artists and film industry artists in particular.

Developed with the support of the United States, the centre will offer professional courses in acting, directing, animation, production, and screenwriting to young talents across the country.

This training centre can host over 400 students at a time to train them on creative industry and establish links of our industry with the global movie industry giants, including HBO, Netflix, Warner Bros, Paramount, Disney and many others through the assistance from Catalyst Story Institute.

A day ago, Catalyst’s Executive Director Philip Gilpin said that training will help students develop work skills, learn to work in group since television and cinema are not individual arts, and that this entire training center will be like home for them.

According to Gilpin, the project brings together 40 over industry professionals from around the globe, each with decades of experience, to teach the next generation of creative professionals.

“Albania is ready to become a key hub on global map of cinematography and filmmaking,” Minister Gonxhja said.
