In his speech at the event “Tirana, the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2025,” Rama stated, “In the coming months, Tirana will host a large number of activities, exhibitions, concerts, festivals, and cultural and artistic events that will aim to create a mosaic of Mediterranean identity in the context of being the European Capital of Culture and Dialogue in the Mediterranean.”

“All of this did not happen in a short period of time, nor, in fact, has it happened over an extended period. Certainly, the best is yet to come.”

Rama added that Tirana has not yet fully unleashed its potential.

Rama stated, “What we see today is undoubtedly a transformed view, almost unbelievable for those who return after many years.”

The Prime Minister mentioned the case of a friend of his, who visited our country after emigrating to the United States in the 1990s.

“A while ago, a friend of mine came to visit, along with his wife. He is a childhood friend who left for the U.S. many years ago in the 1990s. I met with them, and they were telling me how difficult it was for them to navigate through Tirana, and how it felt as though they hadn’t arrived in Tirana at all, but rather in a city where, in their words, ‘had it been like this, they would never have left,'” Rama shared.

The Prime Minister stated, “This is a very strong reason, not to be satisfied with what we have, but to believe in what we want to achieve and to have full confidence that everything we want to accomplish, we have all the possibilities to make it a reality.”

“The heartiest congratulations to Tirana and the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, for its announcement as the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2025 by the Union for the Mediterranean,” Hasani wrote in a post on his X account.

“The European vision for Tirana will emanate tolerance, inclusiveness and sustainable development for the entire Mediterranean region,” Hasani said.

After titles such as the European Capital of Youth and the European City of Sport, Tirana has also been announced as the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue for 2025.
