TIRANA, March 20/ATA/ On Thursday, the Assembly of Albania is set to convene in plenary session. This time the session is expected to take place normally, without any blocking of the rostrum by a part of the opposition lawmakers.

The agenda of the proceedings has been published on the website of the Assembly, where, among other things, there is the setting up of two investigative commissions, while the “Penal Amnesty” law, which requires 84 votes, is not yet on the agenda. Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Tuesday during a statement to the media that: “The law is there in the Assembly. Everyone will vote on it”.

In regard to the agenda, on Thursday the Assembly is expected to vote on the government’s Normative Act for some changes in the state budget of 2024, where it is expected that there will be greater support for the façon industry, while there is reallocated a fund for the port of Durrës.

Another item on the agenda is the agreement with Kosovo on education, which encourages greater institutional cooperation in scientific research, but also the exchange of students. Through this agreement, there are foreseen to be provided 30 scholarships. Another agreement that is expected to be discussed and approved in the Assembly is the one that provides for the recognition of diplomas of nurses, veterinarians, pharmacists and midwives, in the context of the Central European Free Trade Agreement. The agreement, which is within the framework of the Berlin Process, includes the countries of the Western Balkans: Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo and Serbia. These two agreements have also received the support of the opposition in the Assembly Committees and that is expected to be reflected in the plenary session, as well. Another law that is expected to be approved is the one on cyber security.

Another item on the agenda is the setting up of two investigative commissions, according to the agreement at the Conference of Chairmen: the investigative commission for the TIMS system and the investigative commission for “Sterilization”. /r.e/p.s./

TIRANA, February 1 /ATA/ The session in the Constitutional Court for the dismissal or not of President Ilir Meta was decided to resume on Thursday at 10:00.

Head of the Constitutional Court Vitore Tusha decided to postpone the session upon the request of the Legal Adviser of the President’s Office Bledar Dervishaj.

At the end of the session of the Constitutional Court, Dervishaj said that, “The President will continue to be defended and represented by his representatives”.

The first part of the examination of this case is over. The representatives of the Assembly presented their stance.

“I found out that the representatives of the Assembly have gone beyond the decision of the Assembly which was approved by a majority vote. This is the reason why we raised a claim on the lack of legitimacy to give an authorization from this new Assembly, for the old Assembly”, said Dervishaj.

Dervishaj stressed that, “We will follow this trial to the end. At this moment when violations have been committed in the appointment of the judge rapporteur without lottery, or in the violation of the mandatory capacity according to the law, this is a more than legitimate reason for suspicion of bias ”.

“There will be no dismissal on Thursday, because there are no issues for dismissal”, he said.
