TIRANA, November 20/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted today after the murder of a 14-year-old boy in Tirana by another teenager, while he said that the authority of parents and teachers for the education of children is being challenged time and again by the parallel world of the social networks.

During a briefing with reporters after the government meeting, Rama said that the mental health of children and teenagers is often seriously questioned.

“During three days, everybody has been shocked by the murder of a 14-year-old student with a knife by another teenager. The whole dynamic of the tragedy highlights the permanent threat that all families raising children live with in today’s world, where social networks and especially Tik Tok or Spanchat absorb our children into their labyrinths every day from a very young age. The authority of parents and teachers as well as all our efforts in the family or at school for the education of children are being challenged time and again by the parallel world of these networks, where there is no protection filter, positive stimulus in support of these efforts and where not only education, but even the mental health of the smallest and teenagers are seriously questioned”, said Rama.

The prime minister emphasized that these are simple truths on which we can easily agree, as parents or as citizens who witness the society of present-day world.

Meanwhile, Rama added that, “Every parent is a witness to the fact that the pressure of drawing children to smartphone screens is becoming more and more unbearable even within the walls of the house”.

“We as a government have been engaged for a long time in researching this issue, following step by step what other countries are doing, but also in search for possible solutions to reduce this increasingly frightening pressure”, he added. /j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, September 22 /ATA/ Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku stated today that SPAK is under threat not to investigate cases properly.

Speaking in the Assembly, DP MP Jorida Tabaku said that young people run away from the country because there is no justice; they run away because politics and the government do not give hope.

“There are hundreds of young people who leave the country and this Parliament does not have the luxury of being silent anymore”, said Tabaku.

Tabaku said that in 2016 this parliament hall voted the constitutional amendments to give way to changes in justice system.

“Today, we ask where is the justice we voted for while a corruption affair of 430 million Euros continues to take money from the state budget”, she said.

Also, Tabaku added that corruption has deepened since the day SPAK was established.

“The government has chosen to attack SPAK. There is no healthy government if there is no justice. SPAK must show courage and the majority must keep their hands away from justice. Now, the government tries to put its hands in to choose the new head of SPAK. That’s why Albanians flee because the lack of justice kills hope.” /j.p/p.s./

PRISHTINA, April 21 /ATA/ – Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani reiterated at a meeting with visiting U.S. Senators on Thursday that Russia and its closest ally Serbia are interested in destabilizing the Balkan region and whole European continent.

President Osmani received U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen, Chris Murphy, and Thom Tillis, who are visiting Prishtina today as part of their Balkan tour, and informed them on latest developments in Kosovo and the region.

In a press conference following the meeting, Kosovo President noted that the European continent is under threat because of the destabilization caused by Russia as its closest ally Serbia continues its destructive role in the Balkans.

President Osmani said that she informed U.S. Senators on Serbia’s aims, which as she said, are to return Balkans in the past.

“Russia was and is interested to destabilise our continent and region,” Osmani said, adding that destabilisation tendencies will be prevented because “this is the will of Kosovo, as the most pro-American and pro-NATO nation in the world.

Senator Jeane Shaheen said that the visit shows bipartisan support of the US Senate.

“We look forward to supporting your aspirations to become part of NATO. Senator Tillis and I are co-chairs of the Senate NATO Observer Group and we work hard to support the US Congress efforts of what NATO is doing to support aspirations of countries such as Kosovo which are interested to join NATO,” Shaheen said.

“We also support your continuous aspirations to move towards the EU and for your partnership with the West,” she said. Senator Shaheen said the US shares Kosovo concerns that the Russian’s invasion in Ukraine might affect the Western Balkan region.

The visiting US Senators will also be meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

TIRANA, April 23/ATA/ From Peza, where another school is being rebuilt from the rubble of the November 26 earthquake, Erion Veliaj has called for unity and not for a return to the Middle Ages of those who make terrorist calls for votes and power.

Strongly condemning the language used by Xhelal Mziu who called for killing like in Elbasan, the political leader of the Socialist Party for Tirana said that on April 25 we should put these people in their proper place by vote, those who talk about terrorist groups and public executions.

“These things did not happen even during the war with fascism! To hear in Albanian words that you have heard from the Nazis, ISIS, or from Golden Dawn, is a great surprise. The good news is that we have two days to get rid of this language, two days to separate from all these executioners who talk about cutting off hands, cutting off legs and public executions of people who take us back to the Middle Ages and have nothing to do with civilization “, said Veliaj.

Mayor of Tirana said that the Socialist Party is the one that builds schools and invests in knowledge. “We are talking here of a school built anew from 400 square meters to 3600 square meters. So we have two days to give a message, that we will move forward and not backward, that we will move with work and not with violence, that we will move forward with education and not with ignorance “, he stated adding that it is time to tell them go home, and we move forward to the future./r.e/p.s./
