TIRANA, January 16 /ATA/ The protected mountain areas in Shkodra region are among the reference points for adventure and nature tourism, attracting local and foreign visitors who are looking for authentic experiences in the heart of the mountains.

The mountain areas attract tourists who enjoy the beauties they offer under the blanket of snow in this early January.

Director of the Protected Areas Administration Agim Dardha told ATA today that “Thethi, Boga, Vermoshi, Lëpusha, Razma are among the most important destinations for adventure tourism, where the wild nature and the mountainous terrain create ideal conditions for challenging and authentic experiences”.

“Being under the snowfall in recent days, these areas are being preferred by those passionate about skiing on natural slopes and walking in the snow”, said Dardha.

Dardha appealed to all the local and foreign visitors to be accompanied by local guides when exploring the trails in the Alps, in order to avoid incidents due to snow.

But even during last year, this park was one of the most visited by local and foreign tourists in the course of the 12 months of the year.

Dardha said that the number of tourists visiting the protected areas in recent years has been following an increasing trend.

“Last year, we managed to exceed 1 million visitors in the protected areas of Shkodra region such as Velipoja, the Buna River, Lake Shkodra, the Alpine National Park that includes Theth, Vermosh, Lëpusha, Razma and Boga. Meanwhile, the most visited destination is the Shala River.”

“Specifically, from January to the end of December, there were 1,298,200 visitors, of which 785,820 were local and 512,380 were foreign to the protected areas of the region,” said Dardha.

Shkodra, with its large area of protected areas, constitutes one of the most important potentials of the country in terms of nature, cultural and historical tourism. /k.s/j.p/r.e/p.s./

TIRANA, Oct 4 /ATA/ – Authorities in northern Albania have begun demolishing illegal constructions in Theth National Park, aiming to restore the protected area to its natural state, Prime Minister Edi Rama said Saturday.

Rama shared footage of a controlled demolition of one structure, reiterating the government’s determination to fight unlawful construction.

“Whoever builds without a permit is only investing in their own trouble. Theth, again and everywhere, until the end, for Albania 2030 in the European Union,” he said.

The National Territorial Protection Inspectorate (IKMT) resumed demolitions of 13 concrete and wooden structures in the park. Around 100 illegal buildings were removed during the first phase of the operation.

The initiative is part of a broader effort across the country to free public spaces from unlawful development and precedes the “Urban Renaissance 2.0” programme, which aims to restore legality and foster community development.

Rama also unveiled new legal measures this week to strengthen territorial control, protect public areas, enforce building permits, and punish illegal construction.

TIRANA, August 1 /ATSH/ – Following the recent crackdown on illegal constructions, the tourist village of Theth in the Albanian Alps continues to shine as a top tourist destination, delighting visitors with its breathtaking alpine landscapes.

Increasingly, the village is also becoming a popular wedding destination, attracting couples seeking a unique ceremony amidst the clean air and stunning views of the Albanian Alps.

Prime Minister Edi Rama described Theth as “the golden crown of Albania” as he shared Friday footage from a recent wedding held at the iconic village church in the center of Theth.

The area in front of the historic church has now been returned to the local community and is being reimagined as a venue for various events.

Authorities recently demolished over 100 illegal structures in Theth, built by 40 different entities, in a move led by the National Inspectorate for Territorial Protection (IKMT).

Located 70 kilometers from the city of Shkodër, Theth remains one of Albania’s most beloved tourist destinations throughout the year, especially in summer.

Its natural treasures, combined with the cultural and historical heritage of the local population, form a solid foundation for sustainable tourism development.

TIRANA, July 22/ATA/ After the action to demolish illegal constructions in Theth, there was carried out the cleaning of the territory from inert materials, with the aim of restoring the spaces to their previous state and preserving the characteristic image of Theth, the center of the Alpine National Park.

Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today in the social media a view of Theth after the action that he described as the “surgery on the cancer of illegitimacy”.

National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection demolished over 100 illegal structures built by 40 entities in Theth.

Following the action, the relevant units of Shkodra municipality, assisted by the engineering forces of the Army, started the cleaning of the inert materials.

Located 70 km away from Shkodra, Theth is one of the most favorite destinations for tourists in all seasons, but especially during the summer season.

The natural resources of this area are also linked together with the cultural and historical heritage of the local inhabitants, thus forming the most important foundations for the development of tourism. /m.m/r.e/p.s./
