TIRANA, April 27 /ATA/ The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a meeting on Sunday with Albanian citizens living and working in Thessaloniki, Greece.

In his speech, Berisha said that the Albanian diaspora, through their energy, optimism, and enthusiasm, essentially became the driving force behind the victorious campaign.

Berisha praised the Albanian diaspora, calling their energy and enthusiasm the driving force behind one of the most remarkable campaigns in the past 32 years.

He added, “Therefore, the year 2025 will be engraved in the walls of the nation’s history as the year of the Albanian diaspora. It will be etched in golden letters.”

Berisha expressed his gratitude to Greece.

“We are immensely grateful to a country where half a million Albanians reside. It is a friendly country to which we owe much for the support it has shown to you. So, may God bless Greece and the Greek people!” said Berisha.

“But you, too, came to this land of the unknown. You arrived as people of courage, men and women who believed in your dreams. You came to build that dream in this country, and today, you have become a powerful force in the economic, social, artistic, and cultural life of this nation. You have a good name throughout Greece. You excel in every field, and you will shine even more in the times to come, just as the Arvanites today are at all levels of this country. They are a source of pride for Greece, and they are also a source of pride for Albania,” Berisha said to the participants in the meeting.

Berisha criticized Edi Rama for using old tactics to strip Fredi Beleri of his mandate, calling it one of the most disgraceful acts in European democratic history. He emphasized that Beleri refused to compromise his principles, choosing not to align with Rama despite pressure.

Berisha criticized the actions against Fredi Beleri as unconstitutional and discriminatory, highlighting that others in similar situations had been allowed to take the oath, while Beleri was denied this right. He accused Edi Rama of opposing Beleri’s actions, fearing that he would prevent local properties from being grabbed, particularly in areas like the Skutara Monastery and the Gjipe Canyon.
