TIRANA, April 3 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Wednesday that unmanned aerial vehicles Bayraktar drones, which have been provided to Albania’s Air Forces recently, will also help authorities in a number of areas, including monitoring the country’s territory for environmental protection, water management and the fight against illegal construction activities.

PM Rama noted that we can finally conduct a significant part of inspections without deploying people in the ground, but by using unmanned Bayraktar drones.

“Thanks to the coordination from the Ministry of Defence, relevant institutions tasked with conducting the most important inspections of the territory are currently working on the work protocol to ensure continued and flawless supervision of the territory in terms of environmental protection, water treatment, in terms of the agricultural land areas, construction activities and this way we will combat corruption in these areas through modernization,” the government head said.

PM Rama also underlined that new technology is being harnessed to modernize the public procurement system by setting up a national operator of procurement services in collaboration with leading international agencies based on best public procurement practices.

“On the other hand, a new artificial intelligence system will be made available to the public procurement system through cooperation with Microsoft to combat corruption and damages to the integrity of public funds and finances,” he said.
