TIRANA, Nov 25 /ATA/ – Holta Zaçaj, who on Tuesday concluded her term as judge and head of Albania’s Constitutional Court, presented a three-year performance overview, highlighting what she called record workloads and key institutional decisions.

In a statement, Zaçaj singled out the resolution of a long-debated issue on the length of constitutional judges’ mandates, describing it as one of the court’s main institutional challenges. She said clarity on mandates was essential for judicial independence and for the court’s proper functioning.

Zaçaj said the court faced a series of high-impact decisions between 2023 and 2025, reinforcing its role as the guardian of the Constitution. The judges, she added, handled a record caseload, with filings rising by 35-40% over the period. The court reviewed around 400 cases per year, issuing 85–90 final rulings annually, and continued to meet legal deadlines without accumulating a backlog.

She also pointed to developments in the international arena, including Albania’s election in May 2024 to chair the Conference of European Constitutional Courts (CECC) for the 2024–2027 term – the first time the country has held the presidency.

Zaçaj said several long-overdue institutional initiatives had been launched and consolidated over the past three years, strengthening transparency and public communication, including new outreach practices introduced in 2023.

She concluded by expressing confidence that the reforms and achievements of recent years would provide a solid foundation for the court’s future development and its role as the country’s highest constitutional authority.

TIRANA, July 28 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama stated Sunday that he is entirely confident his ruling Socialist Party will win a fourth consecutive term in the next general elections in Albania and vowed to fully address the pensions issue as a whole.

PM Rama, also leader of the Socialist Party, delivered a powerful speech at the SP congress, laying out his vision for Albania’s future and setting the stage for the upcoming electoral battle, saying “SP has a huge name and the party is a national, public and human interest.”

The government head announced that work is underway to review the existing pension scheme and address the pensions issue as a whole, “although this represents a difficult part of the country’s financial equation.”

“No matter how difficult it may be, we will not only not backtrack from this challenge, but we will secure an exemplary fourth mandate with the power of which we will address the pensions issue,” Rama concluded.

TIRANA, Feb 16 /ATA/ “The battles that we will definitely win during the third term of office will take Albania to a whole new level,” Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Tuesday.

“I would not ask for the third term, but I would finally return home to pay off the big debts I owe to my family, especially the youngest of us five, if it were not for plenty of grandparents, parents of children who should move into their new homes and neighborhoods; if it weren’t for the war with Covid and complete vaccination of the people in this country, for a mountain of obstacles that need to be overcome; if it weren’t for the healthcare reform that should be completed after the extensive restoration of hospital infrastructure and restructuring of the health system. This recovery should be completed and the system of health care workers should be purged from abusers and rogues, who tarnish the work of thousands of unsung heroes. If it weren’t for the progressive taxation that should be strengthened in favor of those who earn less, for further increase of minimum wage and wages as a whole, now that the foundations of the economy are solid, the port and airport infrastructure has been developed and is no longer a dream but a battle already started … ,” said Prime Minister Rama.

“There are plenty of other battles that cannot be left unfinished, because no one today, except for me and the Socialist Party has even a quarter of the unrelenting drive, will, know-how and experience that we have gained while running the country. ! ” – Rama emphasized.

“And keep in mind that the day after the earthquake, even the most optimistic people said that no one really knows when Reconstruction will be completed… Yes, as we are emerging stronger every day from the earthquake tragedy, opening new doors for grandparents, parents and children who return happy to homes built back stronger and better than those lost, so we will get out of this damn pandemic, carrying out the vaccination much faster than it seems today and also the battles we will definitely win during the Third Term will take Albania to another level. “There is no time to rest,” Prime Minister Rama concluded the message.

In a conversation with the citizens, also in the presence of PM Rama, minister Peleshi, in his capacity as the political head of the region said that that challenges ahead of this city are bigger than the achievements.

He appreciated the fact that plenty of investments have been made especially in the field of tourism and today we have come to the point that encourages us to expect more of ourselves. Everything done so far proved that when there is will to join forces and energies rather than hostilities, everything goes well.

He went on saying that the next four-year term of socialists will be centered on the economy of Korça.

Peleshi said that “challenges are always bigger than achievements. Here in Korça we speak with pride and localism, which is healthy and gets things going. It is a pathway on which we are walking together with the central government and the citizens, the municipality obviously. If we look back on the past none believed everything around would become a reality. Those dreams, visions, desires that we shared with each other here in Korça seemed unlikely back then, but today we have come to the point that inspires us to expect even more. ”

It is human to ask for more and more and the project that unites us here today, which is the “Korça Project” is not over, it is probably in the middle of the road and the remaining part is an uphill road, in my opinion. We have managed to upgrade the infrastructure, to build parks, plazas, artistic, cultural, sports and business infrastructure. Some sectors in our city are performing very well and compete beyond Korça and beyond Albania with their products, yet we are far from the destination we want it to be, a city that offers employment opportunities for all, “the MP of Korça said.

Underlining the fact that the city of Korça keeps growing and no one leaves, minister Peleshi added that in the four years to come, with the support of central government we will focus our attention on economy, advancement of projects in others sectors.
