The findings include a public building dating to the 3rd-2nd centuries BC, with later modifications from the Late Antiquity period, as well as one of the fortress’s original entrances.

The excavation work was carried out with support from the Gjirokastër Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage and the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation.

Additional surface surveys revealed several structures likely linked to residential use, as well as new sections of fortification walls. Researchers say the discoveries are especially significant, as they reshape earlier interpretations of the site – suggesting that Matohasanaj was not merely a military stronghold, but a local center of civic life with both public and private buildings.

The festival offers a series of events blending classical music, poetic evenings, book exhibition, theatre shows, traditional costumes exhibition, as well as an exhibition of handmade clothes, wooden and metallic objects, traditional culinary and food products, and medicinal plants.

The events also includes tours to the area’s main attractions, natural and cultural heritage sites, including Peshtura Waterfall, Cold Water fountain and the Drino and Vjosa rivers estuary.

A classical music concert by the pianist Robert Berisha will take place with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Tepelene.

Home Neverland concert will be staged atop the Ali Pasha castle on Sunday evening.

Vjosa, the last wild river in Europe has been designed to be a unique National Park for Albania, as well as for Europe, and it will be included in another category of the European tourist map and will open up yet another new path toward the country’s sustainable economic and social development.

Addressing an election campaign meeting in the municipality of Tepelene, southern Albania, PM Rama voiced confidence that justice may be delayed, but it will not be denied.

“Albanians will never vote for the candidates proposed by the persona non-grata,” he said, urging local residents to back the Socialist candidates in local elections.

Rama recalled the fact that the United States of America has clearly stated that they are both unwanted individuals.

“Could Albanian politics become a safe haven for the unwanted individuals for our allies and partners? Elections should not become an opportunity to provide oxygen to those considered by our allies as problematic individuals who work against interest of Albania and Albanian citizens,” he stated.

“The beauty of the road leading to Tepelena,” PM Rama wrote in the text added to the video.

Tepelena Bypass road is an important project of the national infrastructure, part of the North-South axis.

The investment, which has given a fresh impetus to development of economy and local tourism, connects two road segments, namely the newly built Levan-Tepelene highway and the road section linking Tepelene, Gjirokaster and Kakavije.

The project featured a significant number of work processes, not only in terms of layers and the construction of the bypass road, which includes a console bridge, the first of its kind in Albania built over Vjosa River and constructed on vertical reinforced concrete columns.

The project has also included many other interventions to rehabilitate Tepelene castle’s escarpments, reinforced with iron wire mesh and green fix. The road has sidewalks for pedestrians on both sides.
