TIRANA, Jan 24 /ATA/ – Mother Teresa University Hospital Centre, Albania’s largest hospital, will open up a new chapter of public health delivery and technological progress in collaboration with Sheba Medical Center, one of the world’s top 10 hospitals, officially a strategic partner of the University Hospital Centre in Tirana as of Friday.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Edi Rama highlighted a series of technology investments, voicing confidence that over the next five years, the University Hospital Centre is set to become a centre of medical technology centre of excellence in the region.

“So it is a matter of a strategic investment plan in technology and, since we are talking about technology, I don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t know that Israel is a world leader and when it comes to technology, Sheba Hospital is one of the most technologically-advanced in medicine,” Rama said.

PM Rama pledged his government steady support to develop technology, enhance human resources and turn the University Hospital Centre into a medical technology hub.

“It is not just a matter of good intentions, but there is also a bill and we will do everything as a government to deliver, because realistically now that we have passed the phase of demolishing the center, and from an infrastructure point of view, the construction sites with the last buildings that are in the construction or reconstruction processes are completing, we need to go in and work much harder and dedicate much more human resources and this is not simply a matter of salaries and technology. We will make QSUT a center of technological excellence in these next five years,” Rama said.
