TIRANA, April 15 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Tuesday that Albania should explore ways to co-finance technology and gain benefits from such projects.

The government head, accompanied by the Minister of State for the Entrepreneurship and Business Climate Delina Ibrahimaj, held a meeting at RITECH, a leading information technology company with over 300 employees in Albania and 200 in Kosovo and North Macedonia.

In his remarks at the meeting, Rama underlined that 100% of the company employees are Albanian boys and girls with an average age of 30 years and average monthly wage of 2500 euros.

The Premier recalled talks with Mira Murati, the former Chief Technology Officer of OpenAI, to employ use of AI in harmonizing Albania’s legislation for EU accession, as well as in creating AI-powered public procurement system.

Rama announced that he personally had reached out to Murati to explore the possibility for Albanian government to join her initiative as a strategic shareholder and co-finance “Thinking Machines Lab,” the new artificial intelligence by Murati.

“I reached out to Mira Murati, asking her whether it is possible for us to join the project. She expressed readiness, saying that three other states have also forwarded an offer to co-finance the project. We wish to join this game. In my view, this is about cooperating and providing a product that we can use anywhere we wish to,” Rama said.

The government head noted that that future collaboration with Murati’s platform could also support anti-corruption reforms and digital public administration tools.

According to Rama, the proposed partnership would represent a new model for state involvement in global innovation.
