The agreement was signed in Houston, the United States of America.

The Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, also the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, said Friday that production of electricity at the plant’s first section will start by the end of 2023.

“We have the company’s declaration, affirming that generation at the first section of Vlora TTP, with an installed capacity of 100 megawatt will begin in December 2023, while the two remaining parts will become operational in 2025, increasing generation capacity to 250 megawatt,” Balluku said.

The agreement between the Albanian government and American companies contains 3 main terms: the introduction of liquefied gas in Albania, the transformation of the Vlora TPP into gas-fired plant, as well as the construction of a new gasification and LNG distribution terminal, turning Vlora into a regional hub for the liquefied gas.
