TIRANA, April 2 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today during a meeting at the “Besnik Sykja” school in Tirana that teachers are as important as the military. According to Rama, investing in education and recognizing the value of teachers is just as vital as investing in the military.

“They are as vital to national security as the military, as they are a force that will be confronted with difficult challenges, not easier ones, as we discussed earlier. This force needs to be supported, appreciated, and elevated in proportion with the growing intensity of those challenges. We must come up with strategies and methods to facilitate this, and this can certainly be made easier by strengthening our communication with the entire teaching body. Motivation, recognition, and the sense of being part of a mission should go beyond just physical conditions in schools or salary, extending into other aspects,” said Rama.

He emphasized that, in order to overcome these challenges, it is essential to increase investment in education and in teachers.
“It is fundamental that investment in the teaching body goes hand in hand with the significant investment we are making in the Armed Forces for reasons that you are all aware of. Across Europe, investments in the Armed Forces are being increased, and we have increased ours twentyfold. This increase would have been unimaginable before, and if it weren’t for the broader context, we likely would not have made it,” said Rama.
Rama emphasized the importance of significantly increasing investments in education and teachers, stating that failing to do so would result in losing the battle. He argued that while the Armed Forces protect against external threats, the real danger lies in the internal detachment of children from reality, which poses a major threat to democratic societies.
