Speaking at a presentation event of a project on complete rehabilitation of “Ismail Qemali” school in the northwestern city of Shkoder, PM Rama underlined that given the country’s steadily economic growth, his government’s goal is to raise the average salary for teachers to 1250 euros from 950 euros currently.

“I would like to assure teachers that, despite the fact that we have significantly increased the attention to teachers, we have guaranteed their inviolability in terms of job security, we have ensured that they take up a job position in the education system based on a merit-based system through a transparent platform, and despite the fact that we have significantly increased teachers’ salaries, the average salary today is 950 euros, I am aware that more is needed and our ambition is for the average salary of teachers in the Republic of Albania to reach 1250 euros,” Rama said.

Rama called the goal fully achievable based on the official data and the opportunities created by the stable economic growth.

The government head linked the planned salary increase to wider efforts to improve working conditions in schools, including infrastructure upgrades and better support for educators.
