TIRANA, July 14 /ATA/ One year after introducing the teacher coordinator in pre-university education schools, Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu held a meeting with the teacher coordinators during which there were shared experiences and were evaluated the achievements and were discussed the further steps to strengthen this key function.

In her speech, Minister Manastirliu emphasized the significance of close cooperation between the school, family and other stakeholders to guide children towards informed choices for the future.

Minister Manastirliu said that during the current year, through the SMIP system, there have been sent to parents over 16 thousand information letters, regarding the tendencies and achievements of their children, as part of a comprehensive career guidance process.

“We have over 300 teachers who guide students for the future in higher education, vocational education or the labor market, to have even more mechanisms to strengthen their role and to influence the intelligent choices of students in cooperation with parents. Your role is an essential and important role in identifying the tendencies and talents of our students, which not only starts at an early age, but also gets consolidated starting from the 6th grade when students are 11-12 years old”, emphasized Manastirliu.

According to this year’s data, there has been recorded a 10% increase in students’ interest in vocational education, proving the effectiveness of this new role in the education system.

The meeting also served as a platform for reflection on the challenges and as an incentive for further support for teacher coordinators, as key links in building an education system oriented towards the future. /k.s/j.p/p.s./

During the meeting organized at the “Kosova” school in Tirana” on school security, PM Rama said that, “The new school year started with another group of new schools which are added to a set of educational buildings. These are the result of a ten-year investment and in regard to the volume of work done and the volume of funds made available we have managed to build and rebuild in these 10 years more than in 40 years taken together before the beginning of this decade”.

“It’s not just the quantity, it’s also the quality of the teacher”, underlined Rama, adding that “We have not focused only on the building and infrastructure, but in a special way on strengthening the authority of the teacher and the continuous motivation of the teaching staff”.

Rama spoke about a continuous increase of salaries for teachers.

“At present, we have managed to increase the average salary of teachers to 950 euros. And there are also the criteria; every teacher who stands out is paid better, but we do not intend to stop here, we are not done with this”, emphasized Rama. /p.s./

TIRANA, February 19/ATA/ The Democratic Party in opposition reacted on Sunday against the initiative of the Ministry of Education for the inclusion of professionals from various fields into teaching after receiving the relevant qualifications. In a statement to the media, the head of the Department of Education in the DP Lili Sula considered the initiative as part of the May 14 election campaign.

“Kushi gave us the bad news for all the students who are attending pedagogical studies, for all those who have completed five or seven years of university studies to practice the teaching profession, for all the lecturers engaged in faculties, as well as for parents who have children in pre-university education. According to Ms. Kushi, all those who have graduated in fields related to or different from teaching, such as: economics, engineering, arts, linguistics, translation and wish to practice the profession of teacher, will be fulfilled this wish, once they have completed the necessary psycho-pedagogical training, which will be made possible by the faculties of pedagogical studies”, said Sula

She considered the initiative contrary to the previous legal acts, which make it obligatory for the students who want to practice the teaching profession, to graduate in the pedagogical studies, the second cycle of Master’s studies in teaching, complete an internship and then take the teacher’s licensing exam.

“Your primary objective, of the Ministry of Education and of this government, is not the interest of the student, nor that of the teacher, but the party’s interest to use them in the election campaign”, said Sula. /p.s./

TIRANA, February 17 /ATA/ The graduates in engineering, economics, arts, linguistics, translation and other fields will have the opportunity to practice the profession of teacher, after having completed the necessary psycho-pedagogical training, which will be provided by the faculties of education in higher education institutions.

Minister of Education and Sports Evis Kushi provided some of details of the new instruction in the social media.

Kushi invited all universities to submit applications for the approval of the necessary programs, to allow those interested to enroll in the new academic year 2023-2024.

“For years in the pre-university education system, some subjects such as: Economics, Informatics, Arts, Philosophy, Technology, were taught by teachers of other profiles who had not graduated in the field of teaching and who lacked the necessary pedagogical and methodical training. Therefore, having as the primary objective the interest of the students and their right to teaching at high scientific and psycho-pedagogical levels, we have drawn up and approved a new instruction, which enables the teaching profession to be practiced by professionals graduated in different fields, such as engineering, economics, arts, linguistics, translation, etc., but after they have completed the necessary psycho-pedagogical training, which will be provided by the faculties of education in higher education institutions”, emphasized Kushi.

Minister Kushi invited all universities, based on this instruction, to submit applications for the approval of the necessary programs as soon as possible, to give those interested the opportunity to register in the new academic year 2023-2024./k.s/p.s./
