“We strongly condemn the criminal assault against Top Channel and express our shock and deep condolences to the family and colleagues of the security officer, Mr. Pal Kola, who lost his life while on duty guarding a building where journalism serving the public information is exercised. Such a blatant attack against media is a blatant attack against democracy. The OSCE Presence joins the calls of the highest state officials for a rapid and full investigation of the incident and expects the perpetrators and the full background to this attack to be identified and brought to justice,” said the OSCE.

While the U.S. Embassy in Tirana strongly condemned the deadly attack on Top Channel. And “We express our deepest condolences to the family of the victim. We urge law enforcement to carry out a comprehensive investigation that will bring perpetrators to justice,” said the embassy.

The EU Delegation to Albania condemns the firearm attack on the premises of Top Channel and expresses its deep condolences to the family and colleagues of Pal Kola, the security guard that was killed in the attack.

“We call on Albanian authorities to conduct a swift and thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice. Rule of law and media freedom are two fundamental values of democratic societies that must be upheld,” reads an EU statement.

While the British Embassy said it was shocked to learn of the violent incident at Top Channel, and we hope “those responsible will be brought to justice swiftly”.

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the victim’s family and everyone who has been affected,” said the embassy.

In a post on social networks, Rama stated that, “The criminal aggression against TCH, resulting in the loss of life of the security personnel, requires a clear response from the law enforcement agencies”.
