This certification represents an official acknowledgment of the municipality’s commitment to providing quality services and meeting the highest international standards in quality management.

Mayor Erion Veliaj emphasized the significance of this recognition, highlighting the fundamental transformation of the local taxes and fees sector over the past decade, as well as the municipality’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of public services.

After receiving the certification from DEKRA officials, Veliaj stated that the local taxes and fees institution has undergone an extraordinary transformation over the past ten years.

“We want to improve, to be monitored, and to be evaluated every year. We aim to raise the bar and break records each year. I hope we have started a long-term relationship where the Municipality of Tirana and all its constituent institutions pass this filter of transparency, efficiency, and accountability every year. We have taken this responsible step because we strongly believe that before evaluating others, we must evaluate ourselves. I am pleased that the municipality’s local taxes and fees institution is the third to receive this recognition from DEKRA, following the central municipal administration and the Municipal Police,” said Veliaj.

He added that today the Municipality of Tirana has more than ten times the budget that was available in 2015.

The mayor emphasized that despite a raucous minority, the municipality’s teams are delivering an impact on the way the city is being transformed.

“For those of us living in the Balkans, in this toxic environment where a troublesome minority makes enough noise to be heard around the world, it is needed an assessment from an outsider with a fresh perspective to truly recognize what is happening and to highlight the reality of those who work tirelessly. They rise each morning not to act as enforcers, but to engage in meaningful work that supports their families and to be part of a team that is transforming reality, reshaping the city, and leaving a mark in its development,” he emphasized.
