TIRANA, April 23 /ATA/ The Democratic Party chairman Sali Berisha introduced the candidates of the “DP – Alliance for Great Albania” in Vora and Kashar today. In his remarks, he outlined the party’s plans aimed at supporting children and businesses.

Berisha stated that everything will be done to ensure children’s education, adding that the GPA (grade point average) requirement will also be removed.
“Tuition fees will be cut by three to four times. After finishing their studies, every young man and woman will receive support to find employment. The government will pay one year of social security contributions for any entrepreneur who hires a young person. It will also fully fund their training before they begin working. Additionally, the government will offer soft loans to support any project aimed at launching a small business or startup—making these opportunities a reality. Our pledge to them will be: a home for every couple,” said Berisha.

The Democratic Party chairman added that the “DP – Alliance for Great Albania” program also includes a grant of €30,000 for young couples who want to invest in buying a new home. According to Berisha, the government will cover the entire interest on mortgage loans, and for couples who have three children, the government will fully pay off the mortgage.

“The minimum wage will never be below 500 euros. To support this, businesses that raise wages to that level will be subject to tax exemptions. The average salary will rise to 1,200 euros. All salaries above the minimum will see a 13% increase through a government decision, as we plan to cut personal income tax from 23% to 10%. We’ll also invest heavily in education and create new learning opportunities,” he said.

“Today, education is experiencing backsliding- perhaps the worst globally—and I truly wish I didn’t have to say that. But there is proof, a test conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the OECD. In the years 2006–2013, our children showed a strong upward trajectory in that test,” Berisha added.
