During the discussion of the changes in the law “On strategic investments,” in the parliamentary committee of Economy and Finance, Tabaku said that postponing for the fifth time the deadline for the implementation of the law is extremely worrying.

“You said that the investment law is being drafted, in fact the new investment law has been in the pipeline since 10 years. In 2014, when this law was presented, it was said that an integral law for investments is being drafted, and yet again in 2024 an integral law for investments is still in the pipeline, ” said Tabaku.

According to Tabaku, out of 84 requests, 40 have been accepted. She added that 75% of the requests are made for tourist villages.

“Even today AIDA has not made an assessment of how these strategic investments have impacted the economy, secondly, what type of employment they have generated, thirdly how they have impacted the stock of foreign investments, how many foreign investments have come to the country because this was precisely the main purpose of this law, attraction of foreign investments.”
