In his meeting with the Socialist Party’s parliamentary candidates in Berat, Rama highlighted that since 1912, no minister or director has ever been summoned by a prosecutor.
“There were individuals sentenced based on political orders. The last political prisoner, who was sentenced under such an order, was Fatos Nano. No high-ranking politician was ever convicted by the justice system, but rather by a directive from the top,” Rama declared.
Rama stated that today, for the first time, justice is investigating and prosecuting individuals connected to political power.
“What is happening is historic. Justice is investigating and prosecuting people connected to political power. And who made this happen? The prosecutors were there. Altin Dumani is a person who deserves respect. All of you and I will always have his back. But he was a prosecutor in the past. Did he do something earlier? Why didn’t he do it?” said Rama.
Rama pointed out that since 1912, in a state where justice is guaranteed for all, the sword of punishment has been held solely by the highest authority.

“The Socialist Party relinquished its control. We handed over the sword of justice to an independent body. This is the sword with which SPAK now strikes, without bias. Albania has never had an independent judiciary until now. Despite the challenges, this marks a historic moment,” declared the Prime Minister.
