TIRANA, March 3 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ The Parliamentary Committee for Citizens’ Initiatives, Cooperation, and Institutional Oversight held a hearing on Tuesday with Elvin Gjevorin, representative of the Swiss PACEP II project.

The Swiss project, which aims to support Parliament and democratic governance, is conducting a training session with the members of this commission on strengthening parliamentary oversight.

Gjevorin emphasized in his remarks that the project, funded by the Swiss government, is in its second year of implementation and is focused on strengthening the overall parliamentary oversight ecosystem.

“The project aims to enhance the capacities of the Parliament, independent institutions reporting to the Parliament, and civil society organizations involved in the processes, working concurrently with all three actors,” stated Gjevorin.

According to him, the focus remains on strengthening and improving parliamentary oversight.

“During the first year, we worked extensively with the Parliament’s administration on reporting formats for independent institutions. Now, we are focusing on working with Members of Parliament to strengthen capacities and improve the process where necessary,” said Gjevorin.

The training currently being conducted with the members of this committee, according to him, focuses on improving the relationship with independent institutions to enhance the effectiveness of reporting.

“We are working on a platform for overseeing independent institutions, ensuring that the entire reporting and exchange process between the independent institutions and the Parliament is conducted online and is as transparent as possible. This will allow real-time monitoring of the implementation of recommendations from independent institutions,” stated Gjevorin.

According to him, the project will continue until 2028 and is flexible enough to respond in real-time to the needs of the Parliament.
