“Sweden took over the six-month rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union,” Speaker Nikolla said, underlining that “commitment to supporting Ukraine and just war against Russian aggression didn’t hinder the EU to take determining steps towards enlargement and support for the Western Balkans.”

“Under the Czech Presidency, Albania and North Macedonia started the EU negotiation accessions. The EU member states also approved liberalization of the visa regime for Kosovo and its implementation is set to begin within 2023,” she said.

The EU-Western Balkan Summit on December 6 was a major success for Albania, the region and the EU itself.
