TIRANA, Nov 6 /ATA/ – The new Cardiac Surgery Centre at the Mother Teresa University Hospital Centre in Tirana is built back under a project designed to transform the facility into a state-of-the-art centre and one of the most modern hospitals in the Balkans in terms of care delivery, infrastructure and medical equipment.

Prime Minister Edi Rama took to the social media on Wednesday to share images of the ongoing work on construction of the new Cardiac Surgery Centre, adding that the facility will also house a specialized state-of-the-art intensive care unit.

“Work is full steam ahead on the site of the Cardiac Surgery Centre at Mother Teresa University Hospital Centre to complete the building’s full reconstruction, which, in addition to cardiac surgical operating room, will house a specialized state-of-the-art intensive care unit for cardiac surgery care,” PM Rama said.

The new Cardiac Surgery Centre is being reconstructed under an Albanian government-funded investment worth 4.3 million euros as part of a larger project on modernization of the University Hospital in Tirana, the first since the hospital centre was constructed in’80s.

The investment in new clinic includes cardiac surgery service; the operating block with three operating rooms and one room for vascular surgery; the intensive care unit, which will be integrated into the cardio-surgery service, allowing a more flexible management of preoperative and postoperative care for patients.

The new clinic will also be equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment.
