TIRANA, July 21/ATA/ Minister of Defense Ermal Nufi stated today that the decision to convene the upcoming NATO summit in Tirana marks a moment of immense strategic importance. It serves as a clear testament to the alliance’s confidence in Albania’s vital contributions to Euro-Atlantic and collective security.

During a press conference, Nufi said that at the recent NATO summit in Ankara, Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed that the alliance will hold its next summit in Tirana.

According to the minister, the specific dates and organizational details will be set by NATO itself. Nevertheless, hosting a summit of this scale in Albania highlights its standing as a dedicated and responsible ally, cementing its position as an anchor of stability for the region and the broader international community.

Nufi stressed that the global security landscape has fundamentally transformed. Citing the war in Ukraine, escalating regional conflicts, cyber threats, and advanced military technologies, he noted that states must completely rethink how they prepare for modern security challenges.

To meet modern security challenges, we are actively modernizing our Armed Forces, expanding strategic capabilities, and driving technological innovation to ensure robust defense and cyber readiness, said Nufi. /e.i/j.p/p.s./

TIRANA, May 4/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama has arrived in Yerevan, Armenia, for the 8th European Political Community summit at the Karen Demirchyan Complex. This high-level gathering brings together 48 heads of state and government, including, for the first time, a non-European participant, Canada.

Prime Minister Rama told reporters that the summit is another valuable venue for uniting on common goals and concerns, fostering further European integration.

Rama emphasized that, “The European Political Community summit is another opportunity to share our common ambitions and concerns”.

“This is a defining moment to advance European unity. To meet security demands, NATO must empower its European members to take the lead in their defense, cementing a more mature transatlantic partnership,” said Rama.

In answer to question on what the Union can offer to countries that want to join, PM Rama said that, “This isn’t about transactional deals for a few nations; it’s about immediate, strategic action to secure the future of the European Union itself”.

“A complete Europe is a stronger Europe; delaying integration only creates unnecessary vulnerabilities”, said Rama.

Further on, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan received PM Rama and his delegation. /m.q/j.p/p.s./
