The summit kicked off with a video clip featuring messages of solidarity from world leaders for Ukraine.
Prime Minister Rama started off the remarks by expressing his gratitude for the participation of all leaders in this summit.

“I feel particularly humbled to wish a special welcome in Tirana to the President of Ukraine, my friend Volodymyr Zelenskyy. We are deeply honored that you made this trip to Tirana caught up in the extraordinary responsibility of leading not only your nation, but the entire democratic world in resisting the war that has brutally challenged our democratic world,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister emphasized that neither Ukraine nor the democratic world chose this war.

“This is a war that neither Ukraine nor our community of nations aligned with one stand chose to fight, a catastrophe conceived by the choice and decision of only one man guided by an old dream of an imperial past”, said Rama .

“Your presence here is a reminder that he (Vladimir Putin) has not succeeded, and despite its military power and toxic propaganda, neo-imperialist Russia has not succeeded in suppressing the will of the Ukrainian people to live in an independent and democratic country,” Rama said.
