The retro car display has become a recurring feature of Elbasan’s Summer Day celebrations, offering visitors a symbolic journey through time while adding to the festive atmosphere.

Observed annually on March 14, Summer Day is one of Albania’s most cherished traditions, marking the arrival of spring and bringing together residents, visitors and tourists in celebrations across the city.

As every year, Elbasan welcomes thousands of visitors from all over Albania, who come together to celebrate a festival that embodies tradition, culture, and the excitement surrounding the arrival of spring.

The celebrations began with the event “Heritage in Little Hands,” where children from the city’s kindergartens showcased their talents through traditional games, artistic works, and festive songs.

The Mayor of Elbasan, Gledian Llatja, in his speech greeted the attendees and emphasized that this year’s celebrations will last for a week, with a rich program culminating on March 15, when the city will transform into a grand festive arena.

“Elbasan marks the Day of Summer in its unique style, and this year we’ve expanded the variety of activities to make the celebration even more remarkable. From traditional costume parades and grand concerts to exhibitions, culinary fairs, and events for children and young people, Elbasan will be the focal point of the spring festivities.”
