This project, implemented by OST and co-financed by Germany and the European Union through KfW, aims to strengthen the foundation of Albania’s electricity grid and increase transmission capacities in the Tirana area.

German experts have also been involved in its implementation, with Fichtner serving as the implementation advisor and EFACEC, part of the Munich-based Mutares group, contributing their expertise in building a modern and resilient transmission network.

The “Tirana 3” substation is expected to enhance the reliability and energy security for both Albania and the region, as well as facilitate better connections with regional and EU markets.

Another significant impact is the creation of opportunities for renewable energy and the acceleration of the green transition.

Germany has been a steadfast partner of Albania in the energy sector for over 20 years, financing more than 700 kilometers of energy lines, including cross-border connections.
