TIRANA, Feb 19 /ATA/ The DP chairman Sali Berisha, alongside opposition experts and with the support of the German CDU Foundation “Konrad Adenauer,” presented the 2025-2029 governance program today, focusing on ‘Family Protection and Anti-Depopulation Policies.’

During his speech, Berisha remarked, “Albanians are fleeing the country because of poverty, as parents are unable to provide for their children.”

“The past 10 years have seen a soft, yet a true genocide against Albanians. 1 million and 99 thousand Albanians have left Albania for better conditions in the EU. If we include all other countries, the number rises to at least 1 million and 400 thousand people. Never has a nation experienced such a terrifying depopulation,” said the leader of the Democratic Party.

It all comes down to poverty, poverty, and above all, poverty, he emphasized.

Speaking about the DP program, Berisha stated that with the minimum living wage and the consumer card, extreme poverty will be eliminated within the first three months under DP government.

Berisha stated that today, 41% of the population is at risk of poverty and experiencing poverty, while a total of 61,000 citizens receive economic assistance.

He emphasized the need for a supportive fiscal framework with exemptions for mothers with multiple children to help them provide stability for their families. Given Albania’s high rate of single mothers, largely due to the emigration of fathers, he assured that efforts are underway to create a tailored legal framework to ease the financial and bureaucratic burdens they face.. /j.p/sm/
