Albanian delegation was headed by the Deputy Finance and Economy Minister Adela Xhemali.

Deputy Finance and Economy Minister said that the Subcommittee is one of the main bilateral dialogue platforms between the European Commission and Albania, monitoring progress in various areas as the country moves forward on the path towards accession into the bloc.

Xhemali underlined that Albania has demonstrated resilience in the wake of external factors, including the supplies crisis due to the conflict in Ukraine, the devastating earthquake that hit the country in 2019 and COVID-19 pandemic.

“Albanian economic recovered in 2021 and maintained growth in 2022,” she said.

The Albanian authorities provided information on recent developments and perspectives in the economic, monetary and financial issues in Albania.

Discussions also focused on the labour market, free movement of capital, strengthening competitiveness of economy, internal public financial control, public finance management, foreign audit and the statistics.

European Commission representatives hailed positive developments in these areas, especially economic stability, public finance management and statistics.

This sub-committee is a platform to regularly exchange views on recent developments in economic, monetary and financial affairs and current challenges.
