TIRANA, Aug 29 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Tuesday that “the SPAK investigation into alleged abuses in the construction process of the Public Private Partnership for sterilization in healthcare does not in any way affect the tangible success of this major initiative of the Albanian government for the revitalization of health sector.”

Accompanied by Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, Prime Minister Rama visited the premises of this hospital, where he was informed by the doctors about the benefits guaranteed by the sterilization process.

I wish I could come here time and again to draw attention to the confusion triggered amid the investigation of the procedure and the company concerned. The great benefit that the system has received is one thing and bringing to justice those individuals who may have secretly taken advantage is another,” Rama said.

The Prime Minister stated that “the SPAK investigation ensures that no one goes unpunished if he abuses the trust of the state and the Albanian people, embezzling funds while performing tasks as part of the work for the common goal.”

“When news came out that the security measures were handed down for that group involved in the process, I received several messages from doctors whom I didn’t even know. They were all concerned that this process should not be suspended. And this is unlikely to happen, because our common goal is to give you the world-class instruments today. It wasn’t a matter of ‘let’s do this and then you catch what you can.’ Whoever chooses to ‘catch what they can’ goes another way, while we go this way. So this is not only guaranteed, but we must upgrade it to be on top of the game,” said Rama.
