The project marks a milestone for Albania’s industrial sector, as it will host the first MIDA Steel plant in Europe, positioning the country in the European green steel market and aligning production with advanced technological and environmental standards.

Elbasan Mayor Gledian Llatja, who attended the signing ceremony, said the investment represented an important step toward industrial modernization and economic development in the city.

He said the new plant was expected to generate a significant number of jobs, creating employment opportunities for residents of Elbasan and surrounding areas and supporting local economic growth.

The strategic investment is also expected to strengthen Elbasan’s role as an industrial hub, stimulate steel-related sectors, boost household incomes and improve the local business climate.

Construction of the MIDA Steel plant is seen as a step toward sustainable development, focusing on steel production using modern, environmentally friendly technologies in line with European market requirements.
