TIRANA, July 13 /ATA/ After receiving initial praise from RCS Sport & Events, the international organizer of the Giro d’Italia, the State Police has earned another notable recognition for its dedication and professionalism in securing two major sporting events: the Giro d’Italia and the 82nd Tour of Albania.

The President of the Albanian Cycling Federation, Skënder Anxhaku, on behalf of the President of the European Cycling Union (UEC), Enrico Della Casa, and the President of the International Cycling Union (UCI), David Lappartient, presented the Director General of the State Police, Senior Director Ilir Proda, with a helmet worn by one of the Movistar team cyclists who participated in the Giro d’Italia. The gesture served as a symbolic token of appreciation for the work and contribution of the Albanian Police.

The meeting was held at the General Directorate of the State Police, where the outstanding contribution of police units to the successful organization of both races was emphasized.

The President of the Cycling Federation, Skënder Anxhaku, stated:
“I feel proud of the recognition given by the World Cycling Federation, both for the Giro d’Italia and the Tour of Albania. One of the most prominent commissaires, who has overseen races across Europe and the Balkans, said something in Vlorë that stuck with me. He told me, ‘When I came to Albania, I had heard a lot—mainly concerns about the country—but when it comes to the organization by the State Police, it is one of the forces that can serve as an example in the Balkans and Europe.’

The most important part was that there were no crashes. This is a sport full of challenges and risks, and the Giro d’Italia concluded flawlessly. We brought a helmet from the Giro d’Italia—worn by one of the Movistar team cyclists—as a gift to the Albanian Police, on behalf of the UCI President.”

The Director General of the State Police, Senior Director Ilir Proda, emphasized:
“I’ve said it before—watching the race was spectacular, but being part of the effort to ensure the enforcement of security measures for it to take place was even more spectacular. I thank the Cycling Federation for the recognition. It is a special honor, and I assure you that the State Police is ready to provide security services for any kind of sporting event in the country, not just for cycling.”

At the conclusion of the meeting, Anxhaku formally presented the Director General with the helmet of a Movistar team cyclist who took part in the Giro d’Italia, as a token of appreciation on behalf of the leadership of the UEC and UCI.
