TIRANA, July 13 /ATA/ – European Commission reacted on Tuesday following the charges that Alliance for Protection of National Theatre has filed against the ambassador of EU Delegation in Tirana, Luigi Soreca.

The lead spokesman for External Affairs and Security Policy at the EU, Peter Stano, at a press conference on Tuesday, describes the charges brought against Ambassador Soreca as baseless and defamatory, saying that there is a campaign headed against the EU Delegation in Albania.

“There seems to be a campaign headed against the EU Delegation in Albania. I have to say that the allegations and initiatives by the Alliance for Protection of the Theatre brought against the Head of EU Delegation in Albania are baseless and defamatory. Ambassador Soreca, our Head of Delegation has full and unwavering support and confidence by the top leaders in the European Commission and EEAS for the work he is doing on the ground in the interest of EU, EU-Albania relations and in the interest of Albanian people.”

” We continue to strongly support the justice reform and we call on all state and non-state actors to support the ongoing implementation of reform in the judiciary. The enormous efforts of Albania in pursuing judiciary reform and vetting the judiciary are already yielding the first tangible results and cannot be derailed or slowed down.”
