TIRANA, Dec 12 /ATA/ – The European Union does not enter into bilateral disputes, as it believes in the ability of the actors, especially if the actors are EU member state and EU member state to be, to resolve this issue in a mutually beneficial way by respecting the principles and rules, the spokesperson of the European Commission, Peter Stano, said in reply to the journalist Joulia Velissaratou’s comment, according to whom, the Greek government had made it clear that it would block Albania’s accession to the EU, as the newly elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri was still in jail, according to OpenNews.Gr.

”And here what applies is the rule of law. Law needs to be respected and if there are doubts, the EU, the member states and also countries like Albania have the means and instruments to solve such problems or disputes, in order not to create unnecessary friction in bilateral relations and not to take over the bilateral issues at the EU level, for example in the accession process,” Stano said.

The agenda of the EU General Affairs Council meeting on Tuesday, which prepares the EU Summit on December 14 and 15, includes EU enlargement and the progress in the accession process of the Western Balkan countries, according to the Greek news agency , ANA.

According to the draft conclusions of the Summit, the European leaders will reaffirm their full and unquestionable commitment to the perspective of the Western Balkans’ membership in the EU and will call for the acceleration of their accession process.
