Prime Minister Edi Rama shared Saturday images showing a game between girls’ volleyball team of “Çajupi” and “Sami Frashëri” high schools in Tirana.

“Performance and pleasant emotions generated by the game between the girls volleyball teams of “Çajupi” and “Sami Frashëri” high schools in Tirana, where the Sports Movement in Schools project has been already materialized,” PM Rama wrote on the social media.

The government head underlined that over 10,000 pupils and high school students across the country have joined the sports teams, and have been equipped with new uniforms and sports equipment by the Albanian Olympic Committee, supported by the Ministry of Education and Sports.

“Under 2024 state budget we will fund construction of new schools and upgrade of the gyms and sport grounds throughout the country,” PM Rama said.

The “Sports Teams in Schools” project has as its direct goal the implementation of a national programme that promotes mass sports, talent discovery, sports education, good health and Olympic principles.

The project is being implemented in junior and secondary schools and is being initially carried out in basketball and volleyball, with around 700 teams having been created.
