Prime Minister Edi Rama on Friday shared visuals of the winning proposal, calling it an “impressive concept” that envisions a 6,000-seat facility accompanied by dedicated training spaces.

The winning project, selected by an international jury, offers a contemporary vision that blends sport, community life, and urban functionality. The proposal aims to transform the existing sports hall into a vibrant, 24-hour hub that accommodates sports, cultural, and social activities.

Plans also include the construction of three residential buildings, a sports-themed hotel, pedestrian-friendly public spaces, and seamless integration with the surrounding urban landscape.

The competition attracted submissions from six internationally renowned architecture firms, including Kengo Kuma & Associates, Sauerbruch Hutton, Chybik + Kristof, Archea Associati, Dominique Perrault Architecture, and MVRDV, all of whom presented their design concepts to the jury.

The competition sought to reimagine the Asllan Rusi Sports Palace as a modern center for sport, culture, and civic life. The winning design was praised for its innovative architectural approach and its focus on community integration and green spaces in the heart of Albania’s capital.
