TIRANA, Dec 28 /ATA/ Minister of Finance and Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, stated on Wednesday that the amendments to the law “On Gambling” are set to go through Parliament within the first quarter of the coming year.

During a press conference at the end of the year on economic developments in the country, the minister emphasized that work is underway to pave the way for allowing the online betting.

“We have worked intensively during the last few months with the aim of finalizing the legal changes to the law “On games of fortune” to pave the way for their operation. We are finalizing these changes and next year we will start the procedures for adopting the law. I believe that within the first 3 months of 2023, this law will go through Parliament,” she said.

Prime Minister Edi Rama at the end of August announced the opening of online betting, adding that there will be stringent requirements in place and international companies involved.
All sports betting shops are closed from January 1, 2019. While electronic casinos, as the current law provides, are moved to 5-star hotels.
